Raptor12
Raptor12 evolved from a gift of yarn in my local teams colors. What to DO??? My father was a Seattle Seahawk fan. I could find nothing on the web so I pulled out my patterns and took pieces from several to create a hat that my father liked. Sadly he did not live to wear it to a game.
Raptor12 is a loose fitting earflap hat. Constructed from the bottom up.
Begin by knitting each ear flap flat, then casting on for the front and back and continuing in the round to the crown.
It takes the entire hank of the main color (blue) for one hat. One hank of the accent colors (green and white) will work for several hats. The grey/blue hat takes almost half a hank of grey and just over half the hank of blue. (I could not get a second adult size hat from the same two hanks.)
I have instructions for two sizes but my test knitter found that going up 1 needle size gave enough extra room for her husband to wear it.
I made it in my teams colors but it will work for any avian mascot. Go Team!
