The Raspberry Ripple Cowl features a deceptively easy four-row ‘feather and fan’ repeat and a gently scalloped garter stitch edge. Inspired by the swirls in soft ice cream, this pattern is a great introduction to lace knitting for those new to the technique. For the more experienced knitter, the 18-stitch pattern repeat can be easily adjusted to work with any yarn weight, making it an excellent stash buster.

The cowl is worked back and forth in rows. First, you will start with the garter stitch buttonhole edge, before working the main body of the cowl and ending with the button band. The cowl is finished with four buttons.

The cowl uses approximately 100g of any Aran weight yarn. The sample was made in hand-spun yarn.

Tension and yarn size are not crucial to this pattern but varying tension/yarn will vary the amount of yarn required and the final measurements.
