Rasta-in-the-Round
Named for the yarn that inspired it and the funky fun it is to make, this chunky cowl will work up wonderfully in any super-bulky yarn. Choose brilliant colors that make a statement, because this cowl certainly does! Worked in Tunisian crochet in-the-round, you’ll have a cowl in no time. The headband option works up even faster you can crank out a cozy earwarmer in about an hour.
The pattern includes instructions for two headband variations. If you start with two full skeins of Rasta, you’ll have plenty for at least one headband.
Note that Tunisian crochet in-the-round requires a double-ended hook!
This size double-ended hook can be hard to find at your LYS, but ask and they can order one for you. Either a straight rigid hook or one with the two ends connected by a cable will work. If your LYS can’t get one in for you, check Etsy, Amazon, and eBay for dealers who offer them.
Thanks to my test crocheter, Lisa! (aka Turbogal)
You may find the video tutorials for my patterns, Paving Mitts and Paving Cowl, useful in mastering Tunisian crochet in-the-round. Note that the cowl pattern begins with a foundation round that is picked up in the bumps of the chain, not through the chain as in those videos.
Video One is the most relevant to this project, and you can find it HERE. You can check out the others on the pattern pages for the Paving Mitts/Cowl, linked above.
