Pattern for a rat blanket / tapestry. This pattern comes with both a graph and written directions.

All single stitch crochet using the tapestry crochet technique (carrying yarn)

You will need 3 skeins of black / dark brown (A), 3 skeins of white / cream (B), 2 skeins of tan/pink (C), 1 skein of red (D) & 3 skeins of the background color / gray (E) to complete this pattern. This is assuming a medium weight yarn with a skein length of about 350 yards/skein.

I recommend carrying the background color (E), black (A) & white (B) through the entire pattern to keep it even. I would only carry the pink through the rats body and only carry the red in each eye and the nose. This can be done by leaving the color out of the yarn when you are done with that section of color and then picking it up again on the way back. There are other ways you can go about this of course so do it however you would like.

I recommend a medium weight (worsted weight) yarn with a J sized hook. The tapestry should come out about 4 feet wide (when crocheted with a J hook and medium weight yarn) A border can increase the size and give the project a more finished look. However, it will vary from crocheter to crocheter.

It is all single stitch crochet. In order to make this blanket you will need to know how to carry yarn (there are great Youtube videos that can teach you how to do the Tapestry Crochet Technique. I highly recommend trying a small simple pattern to practice carrying yarn before attempting a larger project. Carrying yarn gets more difficult as you add more colors.

150 stiches wide by 128 rows tall

Once you have purchased this pattern a text document that like this (below) will automatically download to you. If you have any trouble receiving it message me and I will have it e-mailed to you in no time. This pattern also comes with a Graph!

1.) A-150
2.) A-30, B-20, A-10, B-50
3….

The #’s are for each row
The letters are for different colors. (A = Black / Dark Brown, B = White / Cream, C = Tan / Pink, D = Red, E = Background Color / GrayA = Black / Dark Brown, B = White / Cream, C = Tan / Pink, D = Red, E = Background Color / Gray)
(so the above pattern would have the first row be 150 stitches of color A. 2nd row would have 30 stitches of color A followed by 20 stitches of color B followed by 10 stitches of color A and so on….)
