Rattle little owl
This is a perfect item to use small amounts of yarn and leftovers. It’s also a good project for beginners.
It doesn’t take long before you have made a cute little owl! It’s a lot of fun to crochet.
The crochet pattern is available in English (US terms), Spanish, Portuguese, French, Dutch and German.
What do you need to make an owl?
- Crochet hook size 2.5
- 2 safety eyes brown 7 mm.
- Wooden ring 7 cm.
- Toy stuffing
- Tapestry needle
- Rattle bead (if you want to make a rattle)
- 7 different colors of yarn (leftovers)
Stitches used:
ch = chain stitch
sl = slip stitch
sc = single crochet
hdc = half double crochet
dc = double crochet
When you have made the rattle/teething ring, it will be 14 cm long including the ring. The owl will be 6 cm wide.
For these owls I used a combination of Phil Coton 3 and Catania:
For the pink owl:
Phildar coton 3:
- pink for the body and the wings: nr. 78 (meringue)
- pink for the wooden ring: nr. 57 (guimauve)
- ecru: nr. 32 (ecru)
- beige: nr. 88 (seigle)
- white for the eyes: nr. 49 (craie) Schachenmayer Catania:
- lightgreen: nr. 205 (appelgroen)
- lightbrown for the beak and legs : nr. 254 (taupe)
For the green owl:
Phildar coton 3:
- lightblue: nr. 75 (azur)
- grey: nr. 74 (silver)
- white for the eyes: nr. 49 (craie)
- brown for the legs: nr. 72 (cuivre) Schachenmayer Catania:
- lightgreen: nr. 245
- darkgreen for the wings: nr. 212 (kiwi)
