Rattlesnake Draught Excluder
Sssssss…say “Hello!” to this big colourful Rattlesnake Draught Excluder, a perfect, friendly home accessory. This pattern has been designed by Amanda Berry @fluffandfuzz using acrylic DK yarns, and is knitted flat on single pointed needles. The tongue is made from knitted i-cord which is worked on two double pointed needles (DPNs).
RECOMMENDED YARN
Deramores Studio Anti-Pilling DK
Double knitting/light worsted weight
100% acrylic
The Rattlesnake uses up to 50g of each of these colours (available in 100g skeins): Green Tea (70064), Paprika (70055), Gingerbread (70022), Blue Haze (70036), Storm Cloud (70065), Merlot (70048), Shiraz (70007) and Butterscotch (70061).
NEEDLES
A pair of 3.75mm (US 5) straight single pointed knitting needles
Two 3.75mm (US 5) DPNs
NOTIONS
Toy filling
A darning or tapestry needle for seaming
Two 10mm domed black buttons for eyes
A rattle or bell for the snake’s tail (optional)
SIZES
One Size: Rattlesnake is 96cm long (not including the tongue).
TECHNIQUES
Work the snake flat on single pointed needles (not in the round). The tongue is i-cord worked on two DPNs.
Other techniques include casting on and off, knits and purls, increases and decreases, knit stripes, and seaming to finish.
