One of the testers said they’d like to try snap buttons or something like that instead of velcro on the limbs. That could be a good idea. The velcro can come off kinda easily but then again so can zombie limbs if they’re nice and dead!

What you’ll need:
Size F hook
12mm eyes
¾” Velcro strips, cut into three or four ~1” strips, to attach upper torso to lower body, and the head to the torso
¾” Velcro “coins”, a set of 4
At least 3 colors of yarn
I used the following, but it has since been discontinued. If you use a different yarn (it has been tested in DK, for example--see projects tab), you may want to change the size of Raul’s eyes.
Elle Pure Gold 100% Courtelle 4 ply acrylic fingering weight
1 skein shade 023 (soft moss)
1 skein shade 044 (chocolate)
1 skein shade 005 (midnight)
Sewing needle
Yarn needle
Black felt scrap
Scrap bits of red yarn for blood
Fabric glue to glue felted mouth to head

Pattern Notes:

  • This pattern is written in US terms.
  • This pattern is worked in the round. I did not join at the end of a round. The only exception to this is the beanie hat, which is seamed.
  • Use a stitch marker; some parts of the clothing are worked in uneven-numbered rounds and may trip you up.
  • I tried to make this with as LITTLE sewing as possible, as sewing on the Velcro is a pain in the patootie enough. That makes the shirt a little tricky. I didn’t work it flat to seam up later, however, if you wish to do that you can do whatever you want. As a result, the shirt is probably the trickiest part of this whole pattern.
  • I sewed the Velcro all on by breaking up the plies and using that as my sewing thread. The yarn I used was a little fragile if you pulled too hard, making the sewing onto the hook side of the Velcro slightly tricky. You can use heavier sewing thread if you wish. I found my way to be sturdy, at least for now.
