This is an Outlander inspired pattern.
The raven is Ian and the dove is Rachel. This asymmetric shawl chronicles the growing relationship of Ian and Rachel, from distance to closeness to entwined, as represented by the spacing of the two colors: natural for Rachel and complex browns for Ian. Worked in standard crochet in sport weight yarn, the pattern uses a modified cross ripple stitch for Rachel and rope stitch for Ian (charts and instructions for each of these stitches are included in the pattern). Pictured in Good Karma Farm Sport, color George for Rachel and color Kelp for Ian, the shawl requires 375 yards and 335 yards respectively.
