Realistic Columbine Flower
This columbine pattern has two versions, with and without spurs.
Version One (V1, 8 pages, 60 photos, 8.22MB) includes the inner & outer petals and stamens but does not have spurs. It’s perfect for an applique or embellishment. It’s suitable for an intermediate crocheter who is comfortable working with thread and has these skills:
- magic ring
- chain
- slip stitch
- single crochet
- double crochet
- triple crochet
- picot
- working front loop only
- working back loop only
Version Two (V2, 9 pages, 69 photos, 8.35MB) has spurs on the back and introduces an optional picot with no closing stitch which is ideal for making a perfect point on the outer petals. Makes a terrific embellishment or add a floral wire stem! Skill requirements are the same as for V1.
Both versions of the flower patterns are photo tutorials. The high resolution photos can be zoomed to 1000% so you can see the finest detail! You will need a PDF reader such as Adobe Reader or PDF-XChange to view the files.
Size 10 thread & 1.75mm hook will make a flower about 2.5” diameter. Size 20 & 1.5mm hook ~2.0” diameter. Size 30 thread & 1.25mm hook ~1.5” diameter. You will also need fabric glue for the center of the stamens.
Gauge:
Not essential, for best results use medium tension unless otherwise stated.
I make these flowers in a single color, usually white, and dye them. Step-by-step instructions for dyeing are NOT included in the patterns. A resource where you can purchase supplies and get information on the process is included at the end of the pattern. Or you can get a similar effect simply by changing colors, when to make those changes is mentioned on the first page of each pattern.
This set of patterns is available as a free bonus when you purchase my Columbine Flower with Stem & Leaf Pattern set. Add both to your cart, thisr pattern will be discounted $2.50 making it free.
