Rebecca's Heart Lace Tunic
Rebecca’s Heart Lace Tunic, a top-down short sleeve tunic top. This tunic has a simple yet elegant looking design with short sleeves and side splits. It is made with 10cm of positive ease and has slight fitting in the waist. It features a lovely lace panel running down the centre of the top, consisting of repeating hearts bordered by honeycomb lace ladders on either side. The tunic is worked from the top down both flat and in the round, using circular needles, with neck shaping and waist shaping. The lower section is worked flat on both the front and back to form a split at the sides.
Rebecca’s Heart Lace Tunic is an intermediate level knit and requires some prior knowledge of top-down sweater construction. While the tunic itself is easy to knit, the lace pattern can be a little challenging as it is worked at the same time as the shaping for the sweater. It is essential to keep track of both the shaping of the sweater and the lace pattern at the same time.
Skills used: Working in the round, working flat, increasing, and decreasing, top-down sweater construction with separation of sleeves at the end of the raglan, picking up stitches, ribbing, lace pattern knitting using charted or written instructions, ability to work shaping and lace pattern simultaneously.
