Rebel Rebel
Rebel Rebel, designed in collaboration with Wonderland Yarns, was inspired by none other than the man, the myth, the legend: David Bowie! One of the most influential musicians of all time, he showed us that there’s more than enough room in the world for all the outcasts, weirdos, misfits, and people who don’t fit in. We belong exactly where we are and we deserve to be exactly who we are.
This bandana cowl is knit from the bottom up with a bit of garter stitch, a few yarn overs, and a whole lot of stockinette! There are two options for the collar, i cord edging or ribbing, and loads of colorwork details in duplicate stitch. These range from a simple large lightning bolt to a second contrast color for added depth to a collage of tiny lightning bolts that fill up more of the negative space. There are also modification options for a slouchy or snug fit, as well as switching to intarsia, if you prefer that technique. This pattern really allows knitters to experiment with different fibers in a fun and interesting way that isn’t overwhelming. The sample features recycled sari silk and roving, but cotton, boucle, hand spun, or even craft ribbon can also be used!
