Find Rectrices Skirt, the matching hand-knit version, here!
Thanks to a charming lace pattern reminiscent of feathers, Rectrix Skirt takes its name from “rectrix”, the scientific name for a bird’s tail feather! The perfect all-weather, any occasion skirt; dress it up with a cute blouse and heels or dress it down with a simple top and flats! This skirt works up quickly thanks to a built-in waistband and pin tuck details to keep your interest. The skirt is constructed of two panels knit top-down on a midgauge flatbed knitting machine and seamed together.
Sizing: XS, S, M (L, XL, 2X) for finished hip size 37”, 41”, 45” (49”, 53”, 59”) with a length of 25” for all sizes. Skirt is intended to fit with 4-8” positive ease. Model has hip measurement of 40” and is wearing size M.
Yarn: 915, 1035, 1155 (1275, 1400, 1515) yards/835, 945, 1055 (1165, 1280, 1385) meters of DK or light worsted weight yarn. Shown on Cozy Wool Merino in colorway “Deep Sand”.
Gauge: 19.5 sts/26.5 rows per 4” in stockinette stitch
I used a LK-150 mid-gauge knitting machine on T5, but as always, please check gauge on your machine.
Notions: Tapestry needle, waste yarn, transfer tool, piece of 1” elastic long enough to encircle your natural waist, scissors, sewing needle and thread.
