A dark red Christmas throw blanket in a lacy Old Shale stitch, it would make a beautiful accent to your home for the holidays, or a gift for a friend.

It measures 45 inches x 60 inches (114 cm x 152 cm).

Although it is one size, there are instructions on how to make it a different size.

Guage is not very important, as it will stretch from its own weight.

It needs knowledge of knit, purl, and yarn overs. It isn’t a difficult stitch, but you need some patience to keep track of which row you are on. Stitch markers make it much easier.

There are 10 pages, which include photos of blankets in different colours, ways to adapt the pattern and tips on knitting the throw.

Materials:

8-9 balls of Softee Chunky Solids (100 grams each) (It can be done with the larger balls of Softee Chunky in a different colour, or with the Ombre shades) I used roughly 7.5 but I like to have one or two extra balls in case there are flaws in the yarn.

Size 13 US/9 mm circular needles

At least 6 stitch markers that fit chunky needles

Darning needle
