Don’t want to be overt about it? Tell them it’s a modern variation of a Houndstooth pattern. In fairness, the flag pattern can be knitted in any color variation. So, if you need a hat for an angelic green flag kind of person, or maybe someone who’s just a beige flag, then this pattern is also for you. Want to do a funny couples, or best friends photo shoot? Matching green/red flag beanies would be absolutely perfect for that!

Skill Level
Advanced Beginner/Intermediate
This pattern is done in Fair Isle style, stranded knitting, so skills in two color knitting are necessary. Both written and charted instructions are included, and the color pattern is fairly simple.

Sizing
To fit head sized 18” to 22” in circumference, or adult m/l.
Adult m/l: 9.25”/23.5 cm x 8.5”/21.75 cm.

Additional rows can be added for a slouchier fit.

mc (Sealing Wax): 60 yds/58 g
cc (Paris Night): 45 yds/43 g

Needles and Notions
US 10.5/6.5 mm 16”/40 cm circular needles and/or DPNs for decreases.
Notions
Stitch marker, crochet hook or large eye tapestry needle for weaving in ends, optional pom pom.

Gauge
12.5 sts x 18 rows = 4” x 4”/10 cm x 10 cm with US 10.5/6.5 mm needles in stockinette.
