For the Red Hot Poker Pattern you will need crochet cotton in red, orange and yellow. I used wool yarn (Aran weight) for the stalk.

The 23rd pattern proved to be a big challenge. It takes a lot of time to make, so if you want to have a go, make sure you have plenty of time put aside for it.
