About the concept
The red house sweater is designed with the Harry Potter universe in mind. The goal was to create a pattern for a sweater that students could wear around the Hogwarts castle but that still would pass as an everyday sweater in the non magic world. The result was this sweater.

Knit it in the colour of the house that you belong to OR simply knit a basic sweater with some contrast stripes made out of rest yarn.

Construction
The sweater is knitted top down using a seamless technique. First, the collar and yoke are knitted, which are then divided into front and back pieces. Next, the front and back piece are knitted separately, after which the pieces are brought together again to create armholes. The sweater is then knitted in the round. The sleeves are created by picking up stitches in the armhole.

This means that you can try on the sweater during the knitting process and adjust the sleeve and body length so that the sweater fits you as nicely as possible. Keep in mind that if you knit the sweater longer than the pattern indicates, more yarn is required.
