An opulently oversized circular colorwork yoke cardigan and pullover, in a field of misty mohair. Inspired by the roses of Pierre-Joseph Redouté, an 18th-19th century botanist known particularly for his rose illustrations & etchings. Construction is knit bottom up, in-the-round, and seamless. Pattern is written for 5 sts = 1 inch with two yarns held together, a sport weight wool with a strand of lace-weight mohair silk, however pattern includes a gauge substitution chart so that at-a-glance you can create your sweater with your absolute favorite worsted-fingering weight yarn, or handspun!

Bust of Actual Garment: 49.8 inches, including button band on cardigan.
Yoke depth at base of neck, not including neckband: 9 inches.
Body length from base of neckband to bottom hem in front: 25.5 inches.
Sleeve length: 20 inches.
Upper Sleeve Circ: 14 inches.
Number of sts for body at bust: 247 sts
Number of sts for sleeves at upper arm: 84 sts.
** Gauge substitution chart** shows options from 50in bust @ 5sts/1” to 32in bust @ 7.75sts/1” in 1/4 stitch increments, so that you can use your favorite yarn!

Construction:

• Cardigan: Knit in-the-round, with a steek of 6 sts, and centered in front, with the end-of-round centered in steek, at finish gets cut open. After colorwork yoke, there are short rows to raise the back, then neck is bound off, steek cut, button bands worked -- No steek instruction provided. Next the collar is picked up from neck edge and worked rib into a turned collar. For cardigan you will need: 8 buttons, 3/4 – 1“, more or less as preferred.
• “After-thought” Pullover: Knit in-the-round, with a panel that is 6 sts (taking up the space that would otherwise be a steek, therefore an “after-thought” to cardigan), and centered in back, with end-of-round centered in panel. After colorwork yoke, there are short rows to raise the back, then dec’ing rib neckband worked – alternately work as for cardigan, ribbing rows back & forth.
