Reflection
This shawl is just lovely. It’s light and swingy with a dash of beading. I chose a gorgeous yarn, fingering weight, with tiny drops of color. It can be worn with any outfit. Would also make a fine gift.
Those of you who know me personally or through supporting my pattern sales know that my granddaughter is gravely ill. I have been reflecting on my time with her and how her struggles are changing that. She’s a lovely, bright, 16 year old; so precious to all of us. She grew up in my yarn shops. She was born the year I opened my first shop! We are remaining hopeful, but it’s a struggle for her each day. We live in the same house (we bought it with our daughter’s family to be close to each other during this hard time, with my granddaughter and my husband having major health issues. I feel so fortunate to see my grandkids every day. It’s wonderful.
I realized that I wasn’t designing as often as before she was diagnosed and that I need that creative outlet more than ever. So at night, to keep my thoughts on something positive, I have been designing and knitting…getting back to my beloved art of knitting.
I added (optional) beads (you’ll need 640 Size 6/0 glass beads, Miyuki #P470) that shine like a mirror to symbolize even further the reflection theme. The color of the yarn, a lovely merino/silk blend is reminiscent of reflections of flowers in a puddle; like a daydream. This lacy shawl is just beautiful and can be dressed up or down.
