About this pattern:
• Pattern is written in English with standard US terms.
• As I am a right-handed, this pattern is written with right-handed crocheters in mind, left-handed crocheters should crochet in different direction.
• This pattern is suitable for advanced beginner crocheters, although it has minimal shaping and made up from basic stitches but please be in mind that crocheting a full length sweater will take a longer time
• This crochet pattern works in rows
About this sweater
• This sweater is UNISEX, the calculator will work for men’s or women’s sweater
• This sweater is made vertically, which means the sweater height will be your FC.
• This sweater will have drop shoulder detail (both for the regular fit and oversize fit).
p.s: I know some might say that my written pattern looks so intimidating because of the oh so many pages
and the supplementary excel spreadsheet. But don’t worry, this long pdf file means there are tons of
step by step picture and diagrams to help you get through it.
++ with the excel spreadsheet, you won’t need to do math, the excel will do it for you
(because I know, I am not the only one who hate math, and I am not the only one who are just too lazy to match gauge).
PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS A DIGITAL
CROCHET PATTERN AND TUTORIAL ONLY,
NOT A FINISHED ITEM / PRODUCT.
There will be NO physical item, product, material or tools to be send.
All the pattern and instruction is written in English, using standard US terms.
Materials & tools needed:
• #1 Fingering weight yarn / #2 Sport weight yarn / #3 DK weight yarn / #4 Aran weight yarn
• Respective crochet hook for any weight yarn that you choose and one size larger hook (one size larger means 3.00 mm and 3.50 mm, 4.00mm and 4.50 mm, etc).
Disclaimer: for those who has loose tension, would highly recommend you to use one size smaller hook than the one that you usually used (downsize your hook size), or else the ribbing stitches will look “hole-y”
• Scissors
• Stitch markers
• Measuring tape / ruler
• 2 or 3 pieces of buttons, diameter 1.8 cm – 2.5 cm (optional)
Yarn usage based on my measurement (bust 81 cm, waist 69 cm)
- Regular fit - short sleeve polo (women bust size S): sweater height 35 cm, I used approximately 190g (480m) of #1 fingering weight acrylic + mohair yarn in purple, used 3.00mm hook
- Regular fit - long sleeve sweater (women bust size S): sweater height 35 cm, I used approximately 320g (820m) of #2 sport weight acrylic + mohair yarn in purple, used 3.00mm hook
- Oversized fit - long sleeve sweater (women bust size S): sweater height 34 cm, I used approximately 360g (900m) of #2 sport weight acrylic + mohair yarn in pink, used 3.50mm hook
- Regular fit - long sleeve sweater (men bust size M): sweater height 68 cm, I used approximately 550g (2450m) of #1 fingering weight wool blend yarn in beige, used 2.00mm hook.
Note: if you use pure cotton yarn, the weight will be doubled as it is heavier than cotton blend and acrylic blend.
(How much yarn you required is highly depends on the yarn weight, yarn type, crochet hook size, your tension, bust size, I put the detailed info on how much yarn does each testers used in the lookbook)
Yarn recommendation:
- Pure cotton yarn (especially if it is DK weight or higher) is not recommended as it will be too heavy
- Heavier weight yarn will create wider ribbing, boxier and more constructed piece.
- Lighter weight yarn will create smaller ribbing and the drape will be flowy.
Crochet hook reference (hook size that I used for my reggie):
- #3 DK weight milk cotton yarn: 4.00 mm for FC, 3.50 mm for everything else
- #2 sport weight acrylic + mohair yarn (pink): 4.00 mm for FC, 3.50 mm for everything else
