Among the many perks of working in a fabulous yarn shop, is getting sneak peeks of new yarns! I first saw Rowan’s Island Blend months before it was available for purchase. It was love at first squeeze! Its lofty, squishy and has a gorgeous sheen.
Another perk is seeing first hand what women want in the fit of their garments. They are not shy about expressing their opinion! I’ve been hoping to design a cardigan with this design detail for some time. I imagined a design that had drape and ease, but also a defined shape. I think that has been accomplished!

Finished Measurements (Closed/Open)
34/36 (38/40, 42/44, 46/48, 50/52, 54/56)” bust circ.
86/91 (96/102, 107/112, 117/122, 127/132, 137/142)cm bust circ.
Suggested Fit: 2-4” positive ease, See Notes.
Shown in size 38/40” with 2” positive ease, Closed;
or 4” positive ease, Open.

I get asked about sizing quite often. For this design, I recommend 2-4” of positive ease (this means you add that amount to your ACTUAL measurement- the widest part) and that will give you the Finished Measurement size you should choose. At a 36” bust, I have on the 38/40. If worn closed, I have 2” of positive ease. When open, it is closer to 4”. This design naturally hangs slightly open, so take that into consideration, if you have to pick between two sizes. If you plan to wear it open and you are on gauge, you may be able to choose the smaller of the two sizes.
