Reisefieber
Reisefieber is a German word meaning the state of anxiety or uneasiness before travelling. For me, it has always been mainly excitement, with just a drop of nervousness. And if there is more than just a drop, what can be better to calm your nerves than knitting?
That is how this pattern came into being. I worked on it on the trains, at railway stations, while waiting for delayed trains and in hostels. Take it with you, accompanied by a skein or two, next time you set on a journey, to ease your Reisefieber.
Reisefieber is a classic, triangle shawl. It combines two beautiful Estonian stitches, waterlily and kassikapakiri. These two stiches go together like salt and pepper and can be combined together in numerous ways! I created two versions of the shawl but feel free to create your own version :).
My shawls’ dimensions are approximately 180/80 cm, after blocking. The version of shawl with lacy body is easily adjustable. The size, however, depends on the yarn and needles used. You can use any yarn, from laceweight to sport.
To complete this project you will need the following skills:
Provisional cast on,
Knit, purl, yarn over,
K2tog, ssk, k4tog, ssssk,
Make 7 out of 3 stitches,
CDD
Acknowledgements:
To create the waterlily edge, I used charts by Olga Jamovidova
In English version I linked a video by Xandy Peters, showing how to make 7 out of 3 stitches.
Last but not least, I would never have been able to create this pattern without Intensywnie Kreatywna, the woman from whom I learnt so much about knitting.
Thank you all.
