Traditional linen stitch in knitting has slipped stitches on both front and back rows. This pattern has slipped stitches on the front rows only. There are 4 pattern rows; the 2 wrong side rows are simply purl across. The pattern also has a multiple of 2 stitches + 2 border stitches. The resulting fabric lies surprisingly flat for being almost stockinette stitch. Blocking is optional.

Skills needed: cast on, knit, purl, slip with yarn in front and bind off in knit stitch.

Gauge is not important in this pattern. Almost any yarn/thread will work.
Make a swatch to check gauge and appearance.

50 yards of Lion Brand Cotton Jeans yarn will make 10 inches of a 27-stitch-wide strip at gauge.
