Reluctant Hipster
I offered to knit my friend a hat, and when I asked him to send me a photo of the kind of hat he would like, he sent me the photo from a hilarious story of mistaken hipster identity. When I asked my friend his colour preference, he wanted a gradient from navy blue to light blue, so we settled on a set of Frabjous Fibers/Wonderland Yarn Mad Hatter sport weight, which I decided to hold double. This pattern could easily be worked with a single strand of worsted weight yarn, such as Malabrigo Rios. The yardage stated is for sport weight, held double, so if you use a single strand, the yardage will be cut in half.
The hat is worked seamlessly in the round from the bottom up and should comfortably fit heads 21-24” (53-61 cm) in circumference. It is approximately 8” (20 cm) tall from CO edge to top, but can easily be modified to add height/slouchiness. Directions are both written and charted. I do my best to make my patterns accurate and clear, but please feel free to contact me with questions or potential errata.
Low Vision Accessibility: This pattern is available in a low vision accessible format as a separate PDF with the pattern file name in ALL CAPS LVA. It is written in 24 point Arial font in all black text on a white background. All text is left-justified and has no italics. All of the directions are fully written out. There are charts included but the charts are not needed to complete the pattern. This pattern is also screen reader accessible and has been reviewed and tested to work with a screen reader. It does not contain any parentheses. Special thanks to momcook for her guidance and testing.
