How to crochet a fun, easy ripple crochet pattern perfect for running errands or a night out on the town, or if you’re like me, holding your crochet supplies!
My Remi series features fun ripple patterns worked mainly in Double Crochet stitches – there are some other stitches that help form the shape for the ripple pattern.
There is also a video tutorial included.
Materials:
- About 195 Yards of Worsted Weight Cotton - I used WeCrochet Dishie; 45 Yards of Mushroom, 70 Yards of Verdigris and 80 Yards of White
- H8/5mm Crochet Hook
- Tapestry Needle for Weaving
- Optional, Jewelry Pliers
- Optional, Fabric for Lining & Zipper (I used a pre-made bag that I got at Hobby Lobby and stuck inside and then sewed in place - it measured 10.88” wide by 9.25” tall)
- Optional, Sewing Needle & Thread or Sewing Machine & Thread (for lining)
Material Notes:
Yarn Alternatives: Lion Brand Re-Up, Lily Sugar n Cream with G6/4.25mm Hook (because it’s a touch thicker)
Other Recommended Yarns (with I9/5.5mm Hook because it’s not as relaxed as cotton): Red Heart Super Saver, Bernat Super Value, Caron One Pound
Weaving in ends of a tough yarn, like cotton yarn, can be hard on the fingers. Sore thumbs and frustration can be a thing of the past by simply using jewelry pliers to carefully help pull the tapestry needle through the work.
Time Spent:
I had my clutch ready in about two hours.
Gauge, Round 5 In Pattern:
14 HDC = 3.75” Wide by 2.13” (or 2 1/8”) Tall
Abbreviations (US Terms):
- SC - Single Crochet
- HDC - Half Double Crochet
- DC - Double Crochet
- TC - Triple Crochet
- dc3tog - Double Crochet Three Stitches Together (Decrease) - Explained in Pattern
