Renegade Crop Top
When I went to design this top, my goal was to create a cropped tee that could easily be worn over a regular bra, paired with high waisted jeans, or even layered over a cute summer dress or romper! You can also size down for a more fitted look or size up for a more oversized blousy look!
The pattern is written with sizing for XXS/XS, XS/S, S/M, M/L, L/XL, XL/2X, 2X/3X, 3X/4X & 4X/5X and has lots of photos to guide you along the way!
Estimated Circumference of finished top: 27”(XXS/XS), 32”(XS/S), 36.5”(S/M), 39”(M/L), 43”(L/XL), 48”(XL/2X), 52.5”(2X/3X), 55”(3X/4X), 59”(4X/5X)
Estimated Length of finished shirt: 15.5”(XXS/XS), 16.5”(XS/S), 17.5”(S/M), 18”(M/L), 18.5”(L/XL), 19”(XL/2X), 19.5”(2X/3X), 20”(3X/4X), 20.5”(4X/5X)
My patterns also include a full measurement guide “index” at the end of the pattern with photos of my testers, which size they made, and their measurements to help you decide which size will be right for you! I also included yarn recommendations from my testers to get you started!
Materials you will need for this pattern include
• Yarn Type: Bulky (5 weight) yarn. I used Hobbii Ribbon yarn, but you can also hold two strands of worsted (4 weight) yarn together for this project. Just be sure to check your gauge. See page 10 for a list of recommended yarn!
• Yardage: XXS/XS (225), XS/S (255), S/M (285), M/L (320), L/XL (360), XL/2X (400), 2X/3X (440), 3X/4X (480), 4X/5X (520) - If you choose to hold two strands of yarn together you can double this number!
Crochet Hooks & Gauge
• Hooks: 12mm hook (for body of top) AND 7-8mm hook (for ribbing)
• Gauge (4”x4”): 7 hdc sts x 7 hdc rows with the 12mm hook
Stitches Used:
CH - Chain
FTH - From the Hook
HDC - Half Double Crochet
SC - Single Crochet
SC BLO - Single Crochet into the Back Loop Only
SC DEC - Single Crochet two stitches together (decrease)
SK - Skip
SL ST - Slip Stitch
ST/STS - Stitch/Stitches
A Quick Note on Length:
If your bra size is larger than a D cup OR if you are taller or have a longer torso you will be able to increase your starting chain to add extra length. Just be sure to order a bit more yarn just since the added length will add to your needed yardage.
