Claire wore a knitted shawl in season one in the Rent episode (5) that became one of the most popular patterns in the show (about Claire, the time traveling nurse/surgeon). In later seasons, we see different color patterns, but it’s the same shawl.

This is the crochet version, something for those who prefer crochet, and it can be made with an unlimited number of color combinations.

2 skeins of Lion Brand Heartland (color A) will get you about a size L and 3 will be XL. You can stop whenever it reaches both wrists. Gauge not needed.
You’ll also need 2 contrasting colors, B and C, one skein each.
