REPORANKA BABY BLANKET

In Finnish, this baby blanket’s name Reporanka refers to a state of being tired and involves the word ‘fox’. The expression is like many others; it doesn’t have a literal meaning as such although it’s been widely used for generations and everybody knows its meaning.

The stranded part of the Reporanka baby blanket is worked in the round with a circular needle. Then two lines are sewn with a sewing machine to secure the edges, and the work is steeked open in the middle of the sewn stitches. The blanket is finished with a single color moss stitch border, which is knitted in the round with a circular needle.

The yarn used in the pattern is fingering weight merino sock wool held double, but you can also use worsted or aran weight yarn held single. The gauge and the weight of the yarn don’t need to match the instructions exactly, as you can repeat the fox pattern laterally and the flower pattern in the center of the blanket laterally and vertically as many times as necessary to achieve the desired size. Therefore, you can also use this pattern to make an adult size throw or a bedspread. The colors of the blanket work well reversed, so instead of stranded knitting it can be knitted in double, too.

REPORANKA-VAUVANPEITTO

Reporanka-vauvanpeiton kirjoneuleosuus neulotaan suljettuna neuleena pyöröpuikolla. Kirjoneuleen valmistuttua työhön ommellaan ompelukoneella purkautumisen estävät ompeleet ja työ steekataan eli leikataan auki ommelten keskeltä. Lopuksi työn sivuilta poimitaan tarvittava määrä silmukoita ja peiton yksivärinen reunus neulotaan pyöröpuikolla suljettuna neuleena.

Ohjeen vauvanpeitossa on käytetty ohutta Filcolana Arwetta Classic -merinosukkalankaa kaksinkertaisena. Voit hyvin käyttää myös jotain paksumpaa lankaa yksinkertaisena; tällöin kannattaa ohjeen neuletiheyttä tavoitella juoksevuudeltaan noin 50 g / 100 m langalla. Tosin langanvahvuudella ja neuletiheydellä ei ole tässä vauvanpeitossa niin väliä, sillä voit toistaa kettukuviota sivusuunnassa ja peiton keskiosan kukkakuviota sivu- ja korkeussuunnassa niin monta kertaa kuin on tarpeen haluamasi koon saavuttamiseksi. Näin ollen voit vauvanpeiton sijaan käyttää tätä ohjetta minkä tahansa kokoisen torkku- tai päiväpeiton tekemiseen. Peiton onteloneuleena neulomiselle ei myöskään ole estettä, sillä sen kuviot toimivat hyvin negatiivinakin.
