Requiem
1 : a mass for the dead
2 : a solemn chant for the repose of the dead
As with all my creepy skull patterns I love to show beauty yet open the mind and help diminish the taboos of skulls and death.
I was thinking of all the beautiful churches I have seen over the years when I created this one. Growing up with a Catholic background I have been to some beautiful churches for weddings and funerals, enjoying many masses. The wonderful carvings, paintings and stain glass windows always seem to influence for my work as a graphite artist, painter, bone carver, crochet writer and more. In this piece it is my interpretation of a wonderful Gothic Chancel Arch that leads you to the sanctuary or smaller out coves as you get ready for a mass.
My testers and my photos will show you some of the wonderful ways you can use this pattern to decorate your home, office or sanctuary. This pattern can be done in thread and a nice thick yarn for a area rug. It does not need much blocking for thread and if thicker yarn is used none at all.
