Resilience Hat
In November 2014, the Alberta Yarn Project was awarded the Make
Something Edmonton Project Accelerator Grant to commission hand
spun yarn from Alberta based fibre artists. But what do you make
with hand spun yarn?
Designed during Edmonton’s 2015 Resilience Festival, this hat
showcases the intrinsic beauty of hand spun yarn, giving it space to
do it’s thing in a large chunk of simple stockinette stitch.
Gauge: 1cm = 2 stitches in stockinette on 4.5 mm needles.
This gauge will produce a loose fitting, floppy hat with a
circumference of 56cm, which is particularly flattering on humans
like myself with big curly hair. A closer fitting tuque can be achieved
by knitting the body of the hat on 4mm needles instead of 4.5mm.
