Resistance isn’t just about marching in protests, it’s also about going
against the rules, going against the dogma. One of the primary rules
about knitting in the round is to be extra certain when joining the first
row, that your stitches are not twisted. Twisted stitches lead to a faux
Mobius band which, if you are making a hat, will make you very sad. True
Mobius knitting is way more involved in terms of the cast on and how the
piece is knit. This faux version is easy, and produces a fun result. Whip it
up in a self-striping or multi-yarn for an effortless statement piece. This
one is so easy to work it’s great to do while watching TV or listening to
an audio book (my favorite way to knit!).
Just for extra fun, this pattern of knit and purl rows is based on the
Fibonacci sequence. This sequence of numbers begins: 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5,
8, 13, 21, 34 … . The next number in the sequence is found by adding
the two numbers before it. This is a fun sequence to use for two color
pattern work as well.
