This is a “sister pattern” to the standing One-Skein Dragon. This means that pieces from both patterns can be combined (see red and pearl dragons in photos).

The Resting One-Skein Dragon pattern contains instructions for: side-resting body, front and back legs, beaked head, butterfly wings, stinger tail, and curved horns.

One skein of worsted yarn (200-220yds) should be sufficient for the head, body, four limbs, and eye ridges. An accent color is recommended for the wings. Ability to complete the main color components of this dragon from a single skein of yarn is dependent on hook size, yarn, and individual tension.

The pattern is approximately 50 pages long and includes detailed instructions for the crochet and assembly of your dragon, with many clear and well-lit photographs to guide you.

**Difficulty Level**
This pattern is detailed and includes many high-resolution photographs, but it will likely be very challenging for beginners. It involves some novel techniques and working around wire for support and posing. For these reasons, I recommend this pattern for advanced-intermediate crocheters.

**Suggested Materials and Tools**
Up to 200yds total of worsted weight yarn in the main (body) color and 80yds for the wings (single color or main + accent color).
The amounts below are estimates based on averages of the yarn amounts used by pattern testers. Amounts will vary based on yarn type, hook size, and tension.
Beaked Head: 22yds
Resting Body: 85yds
Bent Front Legs (for 2): 38yds
Bent Back Legs (for 2): 45yds
Eye Ridges (2): 6yds
Wings (two big, two small): 50yds main color, 27yds accent color
Stinger tail: 5yds
Horns (for 2): 9yds

3.25 or 3.5mm hook, or whatever size is appropriate for your yarn and stitch tension. Note that larger hook sizes will use more yarn.

Plastic stitch markers for marking specific stitches.

Polyfill stuffing.

Safety eyes (I used 16mm sinker-style eyes; some testers used 18mm eyes. Sizing will depend on yarn weight and tension).

Floral stem wire and armature wire:
I prefer to use armature wire (usually 12 gauge) in the body because it is more flexible.
I use 18 gauge Decora floral stem wire (NOT paper-wrapped) in the limbs and through the wings.

Blunt needle for sewing.

Needlefelting needle for securing ends and decorative work.

Optional: 18mm flat round cabochons to insert in feet to keep them flat.

Optional: 3D-printed horn. Crochet horns are included in this pattern, but if you want to make the exact dragon on the cover of this pattern, you will need 50mm Mothman antennae from Bextraordinary Creatures (bextraordinarycreatures.com or Etsy). I used white and painted them in a pink-gold
