Rethink is worked as a true Moebius- in unjoined rounds, growing away from the foundation row on both sides in each round. No pesky seams! If you work the beginning tail in on the first round of the body, once you finish the edging, there’s just the tail from fastening off to bury.

Rethink introduces a new approach to working the foundation crochet that lets you start out within the lace pattern without having to count 250+ chain stitches. (I always mis-count those anyhow.) I call it filet foundation crochet. There are detailed directions within the pattern on how to work this, and the testers were able to master it easily. There is a link in the pattern for my video tutorial showing how to work the technique- I also mention in the video how it can be modified into other variations, not just the FFdc5. If I am able to film a better quality tutorial video, I will update the pattern to reflect the new video. I am aware that in the current one, my hands tend to drift off center.

This pattern is written as non-hand biased as possible, and includes both a left-handed and a right-handed chart. There are right-handed pictures included, showing how to join your work into a moebius- but I will happily provide a left handed version of the moebius joining page to anyone who purchases the pattern and specifically requests it.

The pattern looks best worked in a mohair or mohair blend yarn. I recommend one with beads or sequins spun into the yarn. The mohair helps fill in the chain spaces between motifs, while the sequins add visual interest. It can be worked in a smooth yarn, no thicker than a heavy fingering or light dk weight, but it will result in a much more open, decorative scarf.

As written it measures 15” deep x 60” in circumference, but there are clear directions within the pattern for how to change the circumference and depth. The pattern gives directions on several stopping points, and you can add or subtract pattern repeats to change the finished dimensions, so if you like the look, but don’t have much yarn, no worries! To make the full size, plan on using 100g of yarn.
