Retiary (pronounced Re-she-ah-re), is a completely reversible stole (or large scarf). The patterning is worked over three rows, there is no right-side. Beads are added to the ends of the stole to provide weight that aids in its drape.

This pattern is ideal for knitters who are inexperienced with laceweight. The patterning is straight-forward and very easily memorised. Once your beading is done, the work becomes ideal TV/conversation knitting.

Retiary is a versatile item to wear. Wrap it as a stole, wear it as a generous scarf, or wind it around your neck so that it substitutes a cowl. It’s a lovely item to travel with since it is warm but light.

Gauge is not critical and the fabric made expands considerably upon blocking. The model used 94g of yarn and before blocking measured 35cm x 168cm. After blocking (and then allowed to relax for a few weeks) it measures 50cm x 230cm.

Additional Materials:
• 594 size 8/0 seed beads (buy extra, you will invariably loose a few as you work).
You can choose beads that tone with your yarn for a delicate sparkle, or pick a colour that contrasts with your yarn for a bolder look. You can use larger size 6/0 beads if you prefer (the finished object will be heavier). You can also choose to forgo the beads altogether, if they are not to your taste.

Retiary was designed for supply drop one of The Lightfinger Gang, 2016
