It’s not quite a scarf, and not quite a cowl… it’s a scowl!

This scowl is both practical and stylish. The main part is worked in double rib, designed to be long enough to wrap around the neck twice.

The ribbing progresses in two separate parts from the focal point - a beautiful, large cable, which keeps it all “fastened” around the neck. The cabled section then flows seamlessly into an unusual I-cord fringe.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Length each “wing”: approximately 23 inches
Width: approximately 3.5 inches

DIFFICULTY
Intermediate - as with a graceful swan, there is a lot going on beneath the surface while the look remains serene. Decreases are worked into the cable pattern to bring it to the narrowest point at the center, and then the piece is increased out again towards the end. Techniques used: provisional cast on, reading charts, grafting in rib, I-cord.
