Knit a textured mini-shawl from the top down! This simple triangle can be knit up in one skein of Malabrigo Yarn Sock or a similar soft yarn, but it’s designed around a repeating pattern that makes it easy to make your shawl larger (or even more officially kerchief-sized).
(I really made mine into a mini-shawl due to yarn constraints.)
Materials:
- 1-2 skeins or 300-750 yards Malabrigo Yarn Sock; 300 yards makes the mini-shawl shown
- 1 48” circular needle in US4-6/3.25-4.0mm, or size needed for gauge.
- Tapestry needle
- Removable stitch marker
Materials Note:
The circular needle is used for easier flat knitting, so the length/type of needle is flexible here. It is usually, for shawls, but I got hung up on that fact this time for some reason. Knitting is flat.
Gauge:
Gauge is 19 sts and 36 rows over 4”/10cm of blocked stockinette stitch, worked flat. Please be sure to check your gauge! For a shawl, this is less important for fit, but remains important for size and yarn estimates.
