Retreat Cowl
This little pattern was designed for a group of travellers who came to Argentina and Uruguay on a knitting trip.
As part of their activities, they did a dyeing workshop where they got to dye their own skein of Rastita (a yarn made by the Uruguayan company Malabrigo), and then they spend a few days at an Argentine Estancia where I got to meet them.
I was asked to design something that would keep them entertained, but that they were also capable of finishing while they were still travelling.
This cowl uses a couple of interesting techniques, it grows quickly and it’s lovely to wear. ♥
Finished Measurements:
Approx. 14 inches (35 cm) wide and 22 inches (56 cm) long loop.
Materials:
Yarn: 1 skein of Rastita by Malabrigo (100% – 380y per 100g skein). Approx. 300 yards of DK weight yarn. The sample was made using colorway Peacock
Needles: US 6 (4mm) needles.
Other notions: Crochet hook, waste yarn, stitch markers, tapestry needle.
Gauge:
17 stitches and 28 rows to 4 inches (10 cm) in stockinette st after blocking.
Gauge is not crucial for this project. However, changes might result in a different yardage requirement.
