Pattern Notes
Sweaters are usually designed and sized according to standard bust measurements. This design is a little different. Instead of using bust circumference, I have used crossback measurements, meaning there is not a lot of difference in bust sizes. This means that the smaller sizes have a lot more ease around the bust and, as the sizes go up, the ease becomes less and the garment becomes more fitted. To ensure the best possible fit, especially around the arms, make sure you choose your size according to your actual bust size. I have also included the finished bust sizes so you can get an idea of how much ease your cardi will have.

Retro is a cropped length cardigan however, if you want to add length to the body just keep knitting until you reach your desired length before you knit the ribbed hem. If you want to keep in pattern just remember, one stripe repeat is equal to 1.5”(3.8 cm). If you do lengthen the cardigan you will also need to pick up more sts for the front bands. To do this pickup and knit 3 sts for every 4 rows along the entire front and make sure your final stitch count is dividable by 4 plus 2 for the final ribbed band.

For ease of reading, the above sizes will be referred to in the pattern as:
1 (2, 3, 4, 5, 6)

Finished Bust Size:
46 (47, 49, 50, 51, 54)” / 117 (119, 125, 127, 130, 132)cm circumference at bust.
Sample size is 32-34” (81-86cm) shown on a bust size of 34” (86cm). Ease is 12”(10.3cm).

Two 3.5 mm/US 4 circular needles.
2.75 mm/US 2 needles for rib.
Crochet hook for the provisional cast on, same size as the largest needle.

Gauge
24 sts and 32 rows to 4 inches (10 cm) in Stockinette stitch pattern using larger needles.
