Retroactive Cowl
This cowl uses short-row techniques to create textured garter-stitch bands of a contrasting color on a stockinette background. It can be made with DK, worsted, or aran-weight yarn and, of course, the length can be varied to make it long enough to pull over your head when the wind comes up, if you like. Whatever size you choose, this cowl will come out soft and squishy, warm enough for winter but cool-looking enough for fall and spring, too. Best of all, you need very little contrast yarn -- so this can be a nice stash-busting pattern.
