This design is one of my Shawl Starters, Set 2, patterns, featuring identically reversible rib stitch patterns. There are 5 patterns in all.

This example is made with farrow ribs on both sides. Using two dk weight yarns held together, the rib is created by knitting into the stitch below. It gives a clear linear look to the knit. I recommend 2 skeins (530 yds) for a small/medium shawl and 4 skeins (1060 yds) for a large shawl.

The lovely 3 ply yarn of Paula Kucera at White Barn Farm Sheep and Wool has a soft and full texture, knitting on size #10 1/2 needles. Rowan Moordale provided an excellent color match. For a more classic ribbing look, a worsted or aran single yarn would be fine!

The starters are very handy to take on trips for those times I find a wonderful yarn and just can’t wait to get started on my next shawl.

Enjoy this relaxing intermediate knit, with its repetition making it easy to read your knitting.

Thanks for viewing my Shawl Starters, Set 2, with a variety of Reversible ribs.
