This is a reversible cowl with an Ourobos dragon on the front (Ourobos is an ancient symbol of eternity, birth and rebirth, commonly represented as a snake or dragon consuming its own tail). I based this motif on two of my dragon sweater designs after a number of knitters asked for something a bit smaller and quicker to complete than an entire sweater. For the inside I chose a quote from Tolkien: “So comes snow after fire and even dragons have their endings,” which I felt suited the vibe of the Ouroboros dragon nicely, while adding a touch of enigma.

It is a colourwork cowl worked in the round using a 3-ply/superfine/fingering weight yarn.

You will need 2 colours - around 50 g/ 287 m/ 314 yards/ of each shade.

I used a 2.25 mm / US size 1 / UK 13 circular needle.

The finished cowl is 21 cm (9 inches) tall and 60 cm (24 inches) in circumference.
