This Machine Knit hat is completely reversible and double lined!

It has decreases for the crown at each end with the centre portion knit in stockinette.

It is seamed along one side to form a tube and then one crown is tucked up inside the opposite crown forming the double lining and all the ends are neatly and invisibly hidden inside.

It is long enough in length to fold up at the brim to make a cuff when worn (= 4 layers thick for extra warmth!).

You can make a solid colour hat, or a hat that reverses to a different colour or use multiple colours in stripes. Depending on your choice of size, this hat can be worn as a toque with a folded brim, a beanie, or as a slouchy hat!

Pattern Note: The hat is cast on the base of one crown and knit the entire length up to the opposite crown. Once that crown is shaped and completed, then stitches are picked up from the provisional cast on and the other crown is shaped and completed.

16” 18”, 20” hat circumference
18” 21½”, 23” unfolded length, from crown to crown

Sizing Note: for a good fit, it is recommended that the finished size be approximately 2”- 4” smaller than the head circumference.

This hat pattern is designed to be knit on a mid-gauge knitting machine. We used an LK150 knitting machine.
