Reversible Snowflake Hat
An easy introduction to double-knitting! Worked in worsted-weight yarn on size 5 needles, this hat is a quick, cozy and reversible knit, perfect for the winter chill. Double-knitting means there is no stranding involved in working this lovely snowflake pattern, and no need to line this already double-thick winter warmer.
The snowflake pattern used in this hat is my variation of the beautiful “Snowflake Border and Flea Pattern” from p. 110 of The Encyclopedia of Knitting. (Philadelphia: Quarto, 2000). I am also indebted to Elli Stubenrauch’s “Bird On a Wire Hat”, published on p. 116 of Vogue Knitting Magazine’s, Fall 2009 edition for introducing me to the double-knitting technique.
Enjoy!
