REVERSO
REVERSO is an easy-to-knit reversible blanket: an efficient pattern that can be easily customized, knit at any gauge, and knit in any yarn.
It’s been a little tricky deciding what subclass of blanket this should be in, for the sake of categorization—knit it to baby-appropriate dimensions in baby-appropriate lightweight wool, and it’s a baby blanket! Knit it as shown, and it’s a good throw—maybe just a little too heavy to be a toddler blanket (it was literally inspired by the need for a toddler sleep mat). Knit it bigger or smaller. Knit it in a loose gauge using a light, fancy yarn for a big shawl. (That last version is something I’m loosely planning to try, if I can manage the time.)
Materials:
Lots of yarn—between 700-2500+, depending on your yarn! By weight, the sample would have taken about 9 skeins of Patons Classic Worsted, held double, if it wasn’t made from scraps.
1 long circular needle, used to knit flat, in US10-11/6.0-8.0mm, or size needed for gauge
Tapestry needle
Gauge:
Realistically, any. The sample gauge was 10 sts and 22 rows in 4”/10cm of lightly blocked garter stitch, and the finished dimensions after blocking and some handling were 40”x40”, or about 100/100cm.
