Herr Thiessen starts a fashion trend among the rêveurs. He comments … that when he attends the circus he prefers to wear a black coat, to better blend in with his surroundings and feel a part of the circus. But with it, he wears a scarf in brilliant scarlet, to distinguish himself from it as well, as a reminder that he is at heart a spectator, an observer.
Word spreads quickly in such select circles, and so begins a tradition of rêveurs attending Le Cirque des Rêves decked in black or white or grey with a single shock of red: a scarf or a hat, or, if the weather is warm, a red rose tucked into a lapel or behind an ear.

Erin Morgenstern: The Night Circus

The magic of the Circus of Dreams calls for a special way to keep warm while wandering between the black-and-white striped tents on a chilly autumn night – so what could be better than a bright red, woolly moebius cowl?
With a sleight of hand cast-on and a simple, completely reversible, lace pattern, the magic unfolds to envelop you in luscious softness …

The pattern includes a link to the YouTube video of Cat Bordhi’s Moebius Cast-On.

Thanks to Suuf for beta knitting!
