This is a link to the most popular post on my blog, including the instructions for a toe-up sock and two pattern stitch variations. Like most of my blog, it is a bit wordy, but that’s to cover a lot of information.

I prefer to make socks from sock yarn, with the wool and nylon mix, because it is the most comfortable and long-wearing. There are other sock yarns out there for those who are sensitive to wool, offering cotton and other fibers instead. I have found that socks made from straight acrylic yarn tend to wear out more quickly.

I don’t make socks too tall because the leg would need to include shaping for longer socks.
