RGB Scarf x 3
This is the first pattern in a series of patterns called RGB. The name is after this classic way of blending colors in tech stuff, and I really want the knitters who choose this pattern to choose their own colors as well. We all have our favorites, and uncomplicated designs as this can be knitted in any color.
This pattern contains 3 different constructions of scarves that use either 2, 4 or 6 skeins of yarn. The simplest scarf is in garter stitch with a narrower width and a hole to pull the ends together in the front instead of a knot. The middle scarf has a more triangular shape that looks like a longer bandana, and the largest scarf has a classic shape with pointed ends. It is not super crucial to fit the gauge perfectly when knitting scarfs, but the measures will be different if the gauge is a bit off. I don’t think it will be a major crisis with some other measures, but be aware of this. I also think it is important to choose a soft yarn when knitting garments that’s worn on your skin. Both types mentioned are super soft.
The techniques are as follows:
- Long tail cast on
- Knit stitch
- Edge stitch with 2 stitches
- Regular bind off
- Reversed loop cast on
- Judy’s magic cast on – closed, double cast on on 2 needles
- Stockinette stitch magic loop or double pointed needles
- Increase right
- Increase left
- Decrease right
- Decrease left
- Kitchener stitch/ weaving together
If you choose Judys magic cast on the starting end will be closed. If you choose long tail cast on the end have to be stitched together using mattress stitches. The same for the end of the knitting: if you choose to weave together the ends it will be closed, and if you do a regular bind off the end has to be stitched together using mattress stitches.
All techniques have videos on my youtube channel Knit_tech.
