The Rheinwelle (ger. Rhine wave) socks were inspired by the river Rhine (ger. Rhein) that marks the western border of the Siebengebirge.

Especially the valley of the middle Rhine led inspiration to the romantic literature and art of the 19th century and is said to be the area with the highest medieval castle density of the world.

Slipped stitches creating a gentle wave up the sock are the main feature of the pattern. Easy enough to be almost mindless but interesting enough not to be boring!

This pattern is written for the use of Magic Loop or two circular needles using the Terms needle 1 and 2. If you like to knit your socks on dpn’s Needle 1 and 2 would be equivalent to Needle 1 and Needle 3 and 4 to Needle 2.

The pattern features a toe up heel with a gusset but you can also decide to work the pattern cuff down or change out the heel.

Sizes: 56, 60, (64), 68, 72 Stitches
