Please make sure that you are using the March 2020 version of this pattern. It includes updates to the symbol key as well as improved charts.

Rhenish Amber is a cowl featuring simple cables. It’s a perfect stashbuster for a single skein of super-soft yarn and works up quickly in worsted weight yarn.

The pattern assumes that you have experience knitting in the round and reading charts. Cables are charted only.

Although the pattern is written for worsted weight, it can easily be adapted to other yarn weights. Further instructions for changing width and height are also given in the pattern.

“The amber of the Rhine” is a Norse kenning for gold. This cowl is part of my series Among the Æsir, inspired by the Norse gods and their world.
