“Rhenish”
This cowl has been created in collaboration with Loch Ness Knitting who creates the most gorgeous palate of yarn colours by using recycled waste materials, such as coffee grinds, avocado skins and orange peel from the local café in Loch Ness.
The Earth colour shown here come from her Café Collection which is produced all year round, though she also has a seasonal collection produced from natural plant dyes collected from a local woodland, seen here in Apple Green, which ever you choose to use, will produce a timeless shawl that will give many years of pleasure.
The pattern contains instructions for creating it in a chunky weight yarn as seen in the earth coloured yarn and also in an Aran weight in the Apple Green.
It is worked in the round. The aran weight version is higher around the neck.
It is a style that’s perfect for any Outlander or fan of Scotland, wanting to create a piece that holds memories of a remarkable location in the Scottish Highlands.
I can imagine Claire wearing this cowl at Castle Leoch.
It’s been inspired by my love of Outlander, the Scottish Highlands and historical clothing and textiles.
