Rhichard's Rhainbow
Rhichard’s Rhainbow was designed to showcase the stunning colours of the Yarns of Rhichard Devrieze at Knit City in Vancouver, BC October 1-2, 2016. It is a celebration of colour sure to delight any little one!
The project is knit in garter stitch on the bias with a built-in edging, so no frustrating I cord to deal with later! The pattern includes a recipe version in which you weigh your yarn out to maximize your number of rows and yarn usage, as well as a written pattern suggesting the number of rows to be worked in each colour as the ombre stripes shift through the rainbow.
Yarn
Six skeins of Peppino from The Yarns of Rhichard Devrieze in each colour. (or approx. 1350 yards/1230 meters of Fingering Weight Yarn)
Yarn is held double throughout the work to facilitate colour changes. Suggested colours, used in the original, are the following, though the sky is the limit for colour combinations!
Color A Delicacies (pink)
Color B Honey On the Go (yellow)
Color C Pacific Rim (green)
Color D Splash (blue)
Color E Oz Opal (opal)
Color F Candy Floss (purple)
Word on the grapevine is that the link in the pattern on how to make tassels has gone stale. Here’s a pretty good one that works as of April 2019. https://youtu.be/p1-qYMpGtho
Kits are often available from the lovely lovely folks at Spun Fibre Arts and Calico and Ivy! Thanks for your support!
